Should Elon Musk Own An Island In Maldives?
Elon Musk is not just one of the richest men on earth but he is also interesting in many aspects that are not related to wealth. There are other rich men such as Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos and something is different about Mr Musk. So, today I have decided to blog about him in a perspective to reflect the journey of life.
Maldives is undoubtedly one of the most unique holiday destinations in the world, especially among the rich people who seek luxury facilities blended in pure bliss of nature. That’s where the Maldives stands out in the list that also contains Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji and other island destinations. But, none comes even close to Maldives in the niche and the reasons are apparent and the beauty of Maldives simply unmatched. Hence, the question now goes back to Elon Musk. Why is he not interested in buy an island for holiday retreat where you can relax and enjoy in freedom, just cut off from rest of the world. I can’t answer this but there are some signs I have noticed.
Elon Musk leads several companies such as Teslar, Neuralink, Starlink and SpaceX. As the CEO of multiple billion dollar corporations it is safe to say that he is a workaholic. I can recall a story on Twitter some time back that said Elon actually slept in Teslar car factory at some point. That indicates how much committed he was for the work. These companies are based in USA and Maldives is almost the opposite side of the globe. Flying from USA to Maldives is likely to take about a full day even on private jet and it would have to do multiple spots for refueling. So, whenever you need a quick break you can’t actually escape to Maldives in a convenient manner. Apart from inconvenience due to geographic location Elon also seems to have a personality that does not prefer leisure activities that may interrupt his focus in work.
Bill Gates is pretty much retired, it is fair to say that he does enjoy leisure activities. Otherwise, why would he own a horse ranch in California? This makes to believe that he loves horse racing or just riding them casually. I have actually not seen him on horseback, it is just the news that he acquired horse ranch that makes me to presume his passion in horses. Being a retired billionaire with plenty of cash to spend on anything he desires I wonder why would he not own a private island in the Maldives where he can also enjoy he horses while being enveloped in beauty by the soft powdery sand and azure lagoon. Mr Gates also used to own luxury yachts (he may even own some now) and where else is a better place to cruise than in the Maldives? Florida Keys is enough for his intake of Vitamin-Sea? It seems to be working that way. It can’t be a matter of affordability or price, certainly not for him.
It seems the world’s richest people do not admire nature much. Instead, they seek recognition and fame or approval from others. Mesmerizing views of the beaches and lagoons of Maldives would have otherwise attracted them years ago. There are several billionaires like Paul Allen who requests in Maldives in luxury yachts, just to name one.
Buying a small retreat island is not expensive in Maldives any more. You can buy it for a million dollars in remote areas. Islands that are closer to airports are more expensive and they could reach from $5m to $25 or even more depending on size and other properties. Quality of house reef and shallow lagoon makes the virgin islands more demand and expensive, in such places it is less costly to build water villa and more appealing for family holidays. Scuba diving is timeless fun for many enthusiasts who start from snorkeling. In recent years Maldives became popular for shark drives. The local island of Fuvahmulah is well known tiger sharks. If Elon Musk has a phobia for sharks there is plenty of beauty above water surface he could enjoy. Many resorts also offer excursions on semi-submarine which is ideal for non-divers and families who are not used to sea. Underwater biodiversity is so addictive that it usually takes only one trip of exploration, either snorkeling or bubble makers course on scuba diving.
